Nollywood actress and filmmaker Mercy Aigbe Adeoti has dismissed speculations that she manipulates her husband, movie marketer Kazim Adeoti, describing such remarks as mere “noise” from people who may not have their own lives in order.
Speaking on Iriri Mi, a talk show hosted by Bimpe Akintunde, Mercy addressed the ongoing narrative about her marriage, particularly claims that she has undue influence over her husband, a father of four.
Responding to the allegations, the actress questioned why people were so invested in her relationship:
“That’s just noise. Look closely at those talking—how is their life? People only talk when you’re doing something good. If you’re not known, you can’t be their topic. You have to be at the top to be a topic.”
During the interview, Mercy also revealed that her decision to remarry faced opposition from some family members, especially because of her age. However, she remained firm in her choice, emphasizing that she knew exactly what she wanted.
“I love love, actually. Some family members asked why I was getting married at almost 50, but everyone knows what they want. I know what I saw, and I know what I wanted. I love to have a crown (husband) on my head and to be married. Maybe if I was still in my baby daddy’s house, I wouldn’t be known as Mercy Aigbe.”
Despite the criticisms, Mercy remains unbothered by public opinions, focusing instead on her marriage and career.
