The event organized by the Ansar-Ur-Deen Society, was held on Saturday in recognition of Alhaji Adeyemi’s lifelong service to Islam and humanity.
In her address, the Deputy Governor expressed gratitude to the guest speaker, Sheikh Tajudeen Adisa Taiwo, for his thought-provoking lecture and his invaluable contributions to Islamic scholarship and guidance.
“The Ansar-Ur-Deen Society has remained a pillar of Islamic education, spiritual enlightenment, and community service for over a century,” she remarked, commending the society’s dedication to upholding the tenets of Islam.
She further extended her condolences to the widow, Alhaja K.A. Adeyemi, and the family, praying that Almighty Allah accepts the deceased’s good deeds, forgives his shortcomings, and grants him Aljanah Firdaus.
She commended the establishment of the annual memorial Ramadan lecture and the proposed scholarship fund in honor of the deceased, describing them as Sadaqatul Jariyah—a form of continuous charity whose rewards extend beyond one’s lifetime.
"As we are in the last ten days of Ramadan, I pray that Almighty Allah accept our fast , grant us forgiveness and answer our prayers swiftly, may he bless us with his mercy and grant us us the best in this world and in the hereafter and grant us many more years so that we can continue to serve him as he has asked us to.
"A person true legacy is not in wealth or status, but in the good that they leave behind. These gathering itself is proof that late Alhaji Ahmed Adeyemi live a life dedicated to Islam.
"The establishment of these annual lecture and the proposed scholarship fund are examples of sadaqatul Jariah, the continuous charity that ensures it’s reward, may Almighty Allah bless these efforts and make this be a lasting source of benefit to him and to all of us who participate."
Highlighting the theme of the lecture, “Death, the Inevitable End”, the guest lecturer and Renowned Islamic scholar, Alhaji Imam Tajudeen Adisa Taiwo, urged Muslims to prepare for the inevitability of death through good deeds, worship, and service to humanity.
He reminded attendees that death is an unavoidable reality for all, regardless of wealth, status, or health.
“When you are alive, you must ensure that you prepare well for death because it will come one day. We are here temporarily, and eventually, we will return to our Creator,” he stated.
The guest lecturer emphasized that a person’s legacy is defined by their good name and positive impact on society, urging Muslims to embrace righteousness.
“We must prepare for death through good deeds, charity, and sincerity in worship. Every individual is accountable to Almighty Allah,” he added.
As the lecture coincided with the last ten days of Ramadan, Imam Taiwo encouraged Muslims to intensify their devotion during Laylatul Qadr (Night of Majesty).
He advised them to engage in prayer, charity (sadaqah), and iftar for others, ensuring they maximize the spiritual rewards of the sacred period.
In her speech, Alhaja Kudirat Adunni Adeyemi, the widow of the late Alhaji Adeyemi, expressed her gratitude to Almighty Allah for making the occasion a reality.
She described her husband as a devoted Muslim, a dedicated educator, and a selfless servant of the Ansar-Ur-Deen Society, where he served in various capacities for over four decades.
“While alive, he lived for Allah Azawajal, his family, Ansar-Ud-Deen Society and his community. As a husband, he was a loving and caring man who wanted the best for his spouse.
“He was full of patience and exuded understanding, which ensured cohesion and unity among his family.
“As a father, Alhaji Adeyemi, as a professional teacher, instilled discipline coated in affection and love, in his children. His memory as a core family man will continue to linger in our memories.”
Alhaja Adeyemi commended her children for organizing the event, describing it as a befitting Sadaqatul Jariyah—a continuous charity that will benefit her late husband in the hereafter.
“I commend the children for putting this together. This is a befitting Sadaqat Jariyyah for my late husband. May the Almighty Allah continue to accept it as an act of Ibada'h for the children and make it acceptable deed for my late husband.”
She therefore called for the sustenance of the program in future years, urging all attendees to uphold the values of Islam, education, and community service that her husband so dearly cherished.
