Recall that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu approved the transition on Friday, following an invitation from the Ogun State Government.
This was disclosed in a statement issued to newsmen signed by the Chairman of Ogun Youth Assembly on Sunday.
Amb. Whyte appreciated the Governor for his relentless efforts in advocating for the growth and transformation of Ogun State’s education sector.
Whyte said the upgrade of TASUED to a federal institution will enhance the quality of education, expand access to learning opportunities, and provide more funding for research and development.
He added that the decision to federalize TASUED comes as part of the Federal Government’s broader initiative to strengthen teacher education and improve higher learning institutions across the country.
“With this development, TASUED is expected to receive increased funding, improved infrastructure, and a wider national reach, positioning it among the leading institutions of education in Nigeria.”
Ambassador Whyte emphasized that this achievement is a testament to Governor Abiodun’s dedication to advance education in Ogun State.
He stated that the governor’s policies and advocacy have played a crucial role in attracting the necessary federal attention that led to this transformation.
The State Youth Assembly Chairman said he believed that the Governor’s leadership continues to yield positive results for the state’s youth and educational sector.
Whyte noted that the federalization of TASUED will create new job opportunities, both for academic and non-academic staff, while also fostering economic growth in the surrounding communities.
“The transition is expected to bring about infrastructural expansion and additional programs that will benefit students from different parts of the country.”
Whyte also urged all stakeholders, including students, lecturers, and community leaders, to support the transition process to ensure a smooth and successful transformation.
He expressed confidence that the Federal Government would provide the necessary resources to facilitate a seamless transition and enhance TASUED’s capacity to deliver world-class education.
Whyte called on Ogun State youths to take full advantage of this development by enrolling in the institution and contributing to its growth.
He assured that the Assembly would continue to support policies and initiatives aimed at improving education and youth empowerment in the state.
Amb. Whyte also lauded the Federal Government for recognizing the importance of TASUED and upgrading it to a federal university.
The youth assembly chairman reiterated their commitment to collaborate with relevant authorities to ensure that Ogun State remains a hub for academic excellence.
