Popular influencer Enioluwa has voiced his frustration over the frequent comparisons between Nollywood superstar Funke Akindele and Hollywood actress Taraji P. Henson.
Taking to social media, Enioluwa expressed displeasure at people referring to Funke Akindele as the "Nigerian version" of Taraji Henson, insisting that such comparisons undermine Akindele’s own unique accomplishments.
While acknowledging Henson’s impressive career, he argued that placing Akindele in her shadow fails to recognize her outstanding contributions to the Nigerian film industry.
“I really don’t like seeing comments calling Aunty Funke the ‘Nigerian version of Taraji P. Henson.’ As much as I love Taraji and admire her work, I don’t understand the constant need to compare our icons to Western figures,” Enioluwa stated.
He emphasized that Funke Akindele is in a league of her own, celebrating her as a trailblazing actress and box office record-breaker who has redefined Nollywood’s success.
“Funke Akindele is The Funke Akindele—an unstoppable force. She’s not a version of anyone but herself.”
