Liverpool’s left-back, Andy Robertson, has identified Paris Saint-Germain as the most formidable team the Reds have encountered this season.
His remarks followed Liverpool’s hard-fought 1-0 victory in the first leg of their Champions League round of 16 clash at the Parc des Princes.
Despite securing a late win, Robertson acknowledged the challenge posed by Luis Enrique’s side.
“They showed their quality—an exceptional team, probably the best we’ve faced this season,” the Scottish international told Liverpool Echo.
Liverpool’s triumph was largely credited to goalkeeper Alisson Becker, who delivered a standout performance, making a series of crucial saves to keep PSG at bay.
The breakthrough came in the 87th minute when Harvey Elliott found the net, sealing the win for Jurgen Klopp’s men.
“We have to improve—we can’t always count on Alisson pulling off heroics,” Robertson admitted.
Liverpool, currently dominating the Premier League with a commanding 16-point lead over Arsenal, are rarely on the back foot. However, PSG’s superior possession and attacking threats made this an unusual experience for the Reds.
“It’s not often we find ourselves in a game where the difference in possession and chances is that big,” Robertson added.
With the second leg at Anfield looming, Liverpool will aim for a more dominant display to secure their place in the quarterfinals.
