Former President Chief Olusegun Obasanjo and the Olowu of Owu Kingdom, Oba Saka Adelola Matemilola, have congratulated the newly elected Towulade of Akinale, Oba Oluseyi Adediran, on his emergence as the traditional ruler of the community.
Speaking to newsmen in Abeokuta on Tuesday, the Oba-elect revealed that Chief Obasanjo advised him to extend a hand of friendship to his fellow contestants in the just-concluded selection process.
“Chief Obasanjo encouraged me to make peace with others who contested for the stool, and I assured him that I have already reached out to almost 90% of them,” he said.
He added that the revered elder statesman also urged him to work towards a progressive transformation of Akinale that would earn the pride and admiration of the people.
While visiting the Olowu of Owu, the nine kingmakers of Akinale expressed their profound appreciation to the Monarch for his support and guidance throughout the selection process.
In a symbolic presentation, they formally introduced and presented the new Towulade of Akinale to the Olowu of Owu Kingdom.
The Oba-elect lauded the Olowu for his integrity and commitment to due process.
“Kabiyesi Olowu is deeply grateful to the kingmakers for executing their duties with diligence and sincerity, beyond expectations,” he stated.
“He also advised me to run an inclusive and people-centered administration, one that will unify the community and foster development across all quarters”.
