In a sweeping crackdown on cybercrime, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has arrested 33 suspected internet fraudsters across two northern states in Nigeria.

The EFCC’s Kaduna Zonal Directorate confirmed that 29 of the suspects were picked up in Minna, Niger State, on Tuesday, July 1, 2025. The remaining four were apprehended the next day, July 2, in the Unguwan Mai Gero area of Kaduna State.

According to the agency, the arrests were made following actionable intelligence linking the individuals to a web of online scams and fraudulent activities.

During the operation, a trove of digital devices believed to have been used for these illicit activities was seized. Recovered items include 46 smartphones, 11 laptops, two iPads, and a PlayStation console.
