Ogun Councillorship Candidate, Urges More Women To Participate In Politics


A Councillorship Candidate in  ward 03 Abeokuta South Local government Comrade Oladosu Latifat Funto has urged more women to participate in politics.


Oladosu disclosed this at the inauguration of the Abeokuta South All Progressives Congress (APC), campaign committee on Thursday held at the party secretariat, Oke- Ejigbo Abeokuta.  


She stressed that the active participation of women, on equal terms with men, at all levels of decision-making and political involvement is essential to the achievement of equality, sustainable development, peace and democracy and the inclusion of their perspectives and experiences into the decision-making processes. 


Oladosu explained further that women’s equal participation with men in power and decision-making is part of their fundamental right to participate in political life, and at the core of gender equality and women’s empowerment.


The Councillorship Candidate appreciated the Governor of Ogun State Prince Dapo Abiodun for giving the woman the chance to participate in politics.


" I want to appreciate Governor Dapo Abiodun and his Deputy Alhaja Noimot Salako Oyedele and all the leaders in Abeokuta South Local Government for giving me opportunity" she submitted.
