PVC Registration: Abiodun applauds turnout of residents, promise to declare another work free day

The Ogun State governor, Dapo Abiodun has expressed satisfaction over the peaceful and large turnout of residents across the state for the ongoing voters registration

The governor therefore promised to declare another work free day before the week runs out to afford all the residents who are yet to register to do so before the end of the  exercise.

Speaking while monitoring the registration exercise at Iregun and Imosan registration centres in Iperu-Remo, Ikenne Local  Government Area, Governor Abiodun noted that the ongoing voters registration would give the residents the opportunity to obtain their Permanent Voters Card, to enable them elect credible candidates during the 2023 general elections.

" I want to use this opportunity to ask all of you to go out and register so that you can obtain your PVC. This is the only tool you need to elect credible people to run the affairs of this country. Please don't wait till the last day. Do it now that you still have the opportunity. I may still declare another day so that those who could not register can do so", the governor noted.

While enumerating the importance of the voters card as a tool for electing trusted people to run the affairs of the country, the governor urged those who are yet to register to do so before next Sunday.

Speaking earlier, the  Electoral Officer in charge of Ikenne Local Government, Mr. Ahmed Ojikutu, said that the INEC had put the necessary logistics in place to ensure that every eligible resident is not denied registration.

He attributed the success of the exercise to the people who cooperated with INEC in making the exercise less stressful.

The Chairman, Ikenne Local Government Area,  Segun Ogunleye,  thanked the state governor for the work free day, noting the step had allowed  the residents to register in order not to be disenfranchised during  next year's elections.
