Foremost political group, "Southwest PDP Youth Alliance" has congratulated Senator Ademola Adeleke on his emergence as winner of the July 16 gubernatorial election in Osun state.
The felicitation was contained in a statement made this morning by the group Coordinator and Southwest PDP Youth leader, Comrade Seyi Bamidele and made available to Newsmen by the group Publicity Secretary, Hon. Oyejide Sunkanmi - 'Suco'.
Reports has it that PDP's Adeleke defeated the sitting governor Oyetola of the APC, with PDP scoring the total votes of 403,369 against the APC 375,097 in the poll.
In its official reaction to the poll, Comrade Bamidele hailed the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), noting that the election was free and fair, while results were collated and released transparently.
According to Bamidele, "what we have witnessed in Osun is a reflection of what the Nigerian people desire, free and fair election. They want their voices to be heard through their votes at the ballot, which is a way of rewarding competence and rejecting incompetence".
'He added that “credible and inclusive elections are fundamental to Nigeria’s democratic growth, I commend the good people of Osun for standing firm with PDP and Adeleke, who will now be taking the state to the next height".
The group further encouraged INEC and all stakeholders to continue improving the electoral system and to ensure meaningful participation of young people in the democratic process as we approach the 2023 general election.
