Speaking during the handing over of sewing machines to the graduating students, the President of Sagamu Development Forum Chief Mrs. Adeola Sode said the initiative which started since 2021 has trainees in fashion designing, Barbing Saloon and Hair dressing respectively.
She disclosed this during the graduation of the students, held at Sagamu, Ogun State.
Sode reaffirmed the Institute’s drive to continuously focus and get more youth out of the street adding that there are some that are in financial constraint and those that cannot afford to attend technical school.
"We come together and said what can we do to help and support parents who cannot afford to train children, and government cannot level up to their expectations. So we started this vocational training last year and advertised for youths who are interested in vocational skills and and empower them and keep them out of the street for them to do what they love.
Ahead of the 2023 election, the President advised youth to vote for the right candidates that are interested in their future.
In his remarks, Dr. Adedara Oduguwa a member SDF said that the forum is giving a number of people under their School of Vocational Training sewing machines.
He added that people were inducted last year in to a fashion school to study and learn fashion and pattern making.
"Adedara said "Today is just a day for their graduation and they are very excited and we are actually encouraging more people in Sagamu to join SDF international so that we can continue this good one.
"Apart from what we are doing here today, we are also doing a lot of things in the communities like the Borehole.
" We are encouraging other people to join, what we are doing here should be something government should be doing and that is why come 2023 Nigerians should vote right for faithful leadership that will help the people.
"So for us at SDF we believe that only way you can eradicate poverty is through empowerment, through entrepreneurer education. You cannot just train people without empowering them. In SDF, we have been able to do that. We have membership all over the world but this started from the UK. I am a Nigerian member and that is why we are here today to do this.
Also speaking , the trainer Mrs Oluwaseun Adedara appreciated SDF for coming up with the initiative.
She explained that the student was given orientation at the beginning of the training.
"We have to invite people to come and talk to them and make them understand that it better to have something doing instead of staying at home and engaging in prostitution. They can get millions in fashion designing rather than staying at home been jobless.
"This is something that have been doing for the past ten years and I'm glad that I have this opportunity to impact in people.
One of the beneficiary, Mrs Rufai Monsurat appreciated SDF for the initiative saying that she can stand on his own and make money.
