Adebutu unveils Atiku's Agenda For Ogun

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate for governor in Ogun State Hon Oladipupo Adebutu has pledged that if Atiku Abubakar wins the upcoming presidential election, he will establish a free trade zone in the state's Imeko-Afon Local Government.

Adebutu who made the vow on Tuesday when he took his campaign train to the local government pledged that the free trade zone will be a contemporary free zone and run in accordance with international best practices.

He also noted that the area will be known as a major hub for industrial activities under the government of the PDP.

Imeko-Afon is a border area in the state, bordering Nigeria and the Republic of Benin.

The Governorship candidate, while addressing thousands of party faithful in the area, stated that Atiku's victory in the coming poll will also pave the way for reconstruction of the international road linking Ogun state and Benin Republic.

Adebutu regretted that the road has suffered negligence from the government of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), a result of which he stressed that has birthed unemployment and illegal importation in the area.

He warned residents of the area not to make the mistake of returning APC to power, if Atiku's vision for Ogun state must be achieved.

He said "If Atiku wins, it won't be difficult to construct the international road that connect Ogun to the Republic of Benin and once the international road has been constricted it won't be difficult to have international market in this area- international trade zone and once that has been done, you will no longer smuggle goods through the forest into the country. You will trade freely and legally.

"This place will be a free trade zone. There will be job opportunities for the youth. Your border will no longer be shot because this place will become a free trade zone.

HE added "We are going to have a Border Area Commission in this place. We will reconstruct all internal roads in Imeko. We will construct a rural road to ease commercial activities.

Adebutu equally promised to return autonomy to the  local government in the state as well as review the salaries of community heads across local governments.

His words ``We will return autonomy to our local governments system. Financial autonomy to our local government system. With this we will be able to build better community that we all represent. That's how we have been doing it in plPDP until APC came.  All the 19 northern states are voting for Atiku so please.

"APC has failed us, once we have local government autonomy, we will review the salary of Baales and it will be regular".
