Speaking at the workshop on Friday, Mr Ahmed Umar, the Sector Commander, explained that the essence of the training was to identify the challenges faced by the Command and provide solutions for better performance.
Umar, represented by the Command’s Head of Operations, Mr Sunday Ogungbemi, said the training would address the challenges faced by different units and remind the officers of their roles when performing their duties.
The sector commander commended other security agencies in the state for continuous collaboration toward ensuring safety and protection of lives of residents on the roads and at homes.
He noted that the idea of posting officers was to ensure they served the people better in the area of information gathering and data collection.
“You are also to ensure you attend to victims of crashes in good time.
“Officers should be able to collect, collate and ensure prompt forwarding of real-time data on road traffic crashes, black spots and fleet operations.
“Attend security meetings organised by the local government and maintain register of hospitals within areas of jurisdiction, conduct hospital follow-up and maintain the 30 days rule of crashes reportage.
“They should conduct road audit and submit to the appropriate quarters for appropriate remedies and also maintain good and healthy working relationship with all stakeholders and follow up on all matters with stakeholders,” he said.
Umar urged the officers to apply lessons learnt at the training in order to maintain their high standards of professionalism and integrity in the discharge of their duties. (NAN)
