30th Convocation Anniversary: FUNAAB Unveils New Facilities, Produce 118 First Class Graduates

The Federal University of Agriculture (FUNAAB) in Abeokuta announced the graduation of 2,823 students, including 118 who have achieved First Class honours, while 1,094 students have excelled in the Second Class Upper division, and 188 students have been recognized as Third Class honour graduates for the 2021/2022 academic session.

The Vice Chancellor of the University, Prof. Kehinde Olusola, disclosed this on Thursday during a press briefing ahead of the institution’s 30th convocation ceremony which begins tomorrow, Friday for first degree and Saturday for other categories of graduates.

This momentous occasion will witness the conferral of 16 Postgraduate Diplomas, 215 Master's degrees, and 113 PhDs to deserving scholars. Moreover, 266 students have earned Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degrees.

The convocation lecture, scheduled for Saturday, will be delivered by former Education Minister, Dr. Oby Ezekwesili.

 The Vice Chancellor unveiled 10 several key facilities, including a 200-capacity undergraduate hostel, Animal Demonstration Laboratory, an abattoir for public use, and a 300-seater lecture hall with a service center. 

He added that the work and services directorate will oversee the project maintenance.

The inauguration of these facilities was presided over by Olu of Ilaro, Oba Kehinde Olugbenle, Olowu of Owu Kingdom, Oba (Prof) Saka Matemilola, and Obong of Calabar, Edidem Ekpo Okon.

Recognition was also given to the past Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Felix Kolawole Salako, for his invaluable contributions to the university's progress.

Meanwhile the Obong of Calabar, Edidem Ekpo Okon urged the Governor of Ogun State Prince Dapo Abiodun to rehabilitate Obantoko/ Camp road that leads to the institution .
