Obong of Calabar commends Ogun State Governor for peaceful coexistence of Cross Riverians in Abeokuta

The Obong of Calabar ,Edidem Ekpo Okon Abasi Otu V has commended the Governor of Ogun State, Prince Adedapo Abiodun MFR for the peaceful coexistence of Cross Riverians in Ogun state.

This was as  a fall out of the visit by Cross River indigenes who came to visit His Eminence, during the convocation ceremony.

He recalled that he was in Abeokuta and Owu ,last year in July, on the special invitation of President Olusegun Obasanjo GCFR ,  during the coronation of the Olowu of Owu, Oba (Prof) Saka Adelola Matemilola Oluyalo .

He described  President Olusegun Obasanjo and Governor Dapo Abiodun as two  detribalised Nigerians who had extended a warm hand of fellowship to all Nigerians, which made Ogun state a  safe haven for everyone, including Cross Riverians.

On the controversy over the bad road leading to the Federal University of Agriculture , the Obong expressed surprise that his appeal, and that of the other Monarchs  for the road leading to the institution to be repaired, had been mischieviously misconstrued as a criticism of various respected individuals.

He therefore reminded the journalists to obey the admonishment of the Olu of Ilaro, Oba Kehinde Olugbenle, that they should always write  and report responsibly.

The Obong ended by calling on the Cross Riverians in Ogun state to remain law abiding while respecting the norms  and culture of their friendly hosts.

In the response delivered by Prince Effiong Okon Ita, the Cross Riverians in Ogun State thanked the Obong for receiving them and assured the Obong that they felt at home in Ogun state and would continue to respect the culture of their hosts as good ambassadors of the Efik Eburutu Kingdom.
