Meanwhile Abiodun Mansa, the State President of the Gateway Aviary Association Worldwide, has spoken out about the challenges facing the youth in the State, shedding light on critical issues and proposing solutions to foster peace and development.
Abiodun emphasized the importance of community engagement and the role of the government in maintaining peace and order in the region.
He called upon the government to prioritize youth engagement, acknowledging that it extends beyond traditional employment opportunities.
He stressed the significance of creating recreational facilities, such as sports centers, where youth can channel their interests and energies constructively.
He pointed out that supporting sports and other recreational activities can also be a form of employment and a pathway to self-sufficiency for the youth.
One of the key issues identified by Abiodun is the tendency to dwell on past glory. He noted that Open State's youth, and to some extent, parents, are living in the shadow of the state's historical achievements. This, he believes, has led to a complacency that hinders progress and responsible living.
Furthermore, the state President raised concerns about the influence of non-native individuals in the state, who may not feel a deep sense of attachment to the region. This detachment, he explained, sometimes leads to reckless behavior, as they perceive the state as a temporary residence.
While acknowledging the efforts of security operatives in Open State, Abiodun stressed that more must be done to address the challenges facing the region's youth.
He called for a collaborative effort involving parents, communities, and the government to provide guidance and support to young people.
