Tola Adebajo Foundation, during the grand finale of its free summer holiday coaching program at St. James's Anglican Primary School in Atikori, Ijebu Igbo, Ijebu North Local Government Area of Ogun State, made a remarkable announcement.
Mrs. Ologun was awarded a full scholarship that would support her educational journey through university.
In recognition of her unwavering determination and commitment to pursuing her postponed goals, Mrs. Ologun also received a cash prize and a certificate of excellence.
The scholarship, initiated by the Tola Adebajo Foundation, led by Prince Omotola Adebajo, encompasses her enrollment in a commercial coaching center, her participation in the November/December WAEC external examination, and her university education at the National Open University (NOUN).
Elizabeth, a 48-year-old woman, and two of her biological children were among the 859 secondary school students who benefited from the four-week free summer classes provided by the foundation.
Grateful for this life-changing opportunity, Mrs. Ologun shared, "When there is a will, there will be a way."
She vowed to make the most of this chance and serve as an inspiration for others who aspire to greatness, especially those who may have faced disadvantages in pursuing their dreams.
The event also saw Prince Omotola Adebajo and other key stakeholders advocating for a revision of educational policies to include creative thinking, ICT integration, and vocational training in secondary schools across the country. They stressed that this call was prompted by the high percentage of out-of-school children and unemployment rates in the nation.
They urged all levels of government to collaborate with critical stakeholders and increase budget allocation to the education sector to achieve these goals.
According to Prince Adebajo, "The Nigerian government is taking steps in the right direction with educational policies, but they require collective support as the government cannot achieve this alone."
He commended Governor Prince Dapo Abiodun for his substantial efforts in the education sector, emphasizing that a robust education system is the foundation of progress and equity in society.
Mr. Olamide Lawal, former Special Adviser to the Ogun State Governor on Youths and Sports, suggested that students should be educated on the economic significance of their chosen courses at an advanced level.
He emphasized that education is a crucial tool for societal development and encourages exposure to new ideas and concepts.
Omobolaji Odusanya, Chairman of Ijebu North Local Government, urged students to embrace honesty, hard work, and integrity as essential values for building successful careers.
He emphasized the importance of dedication, discipline, and building strong relationships with peers.
Meanwhile,18 outstanding students from JSS 1 to SS 3, who excelled in the end-of-summer test, were rewarded with cash prizes and essential educational materials, including bags, exercise books, and writing supplies.
