This was disclosed in a release signed by the acting Assistant Director Army Public Relations 35 Artillery Brigade ,Lieutenant Mohammed Goni on Monday.
Goni said the Range Classification is expected to improve the individual Officer and Soldier’s Personal weapon handling as well as marksmanship skills aimed at enhancing combat efficiency.
His word's "during this period, there will be massive movement of troops and equipment. The general public is advised not to panic as a result of increase in the movement of troops and military vehicles within and around Lagos and Ogun State.
" Also on hearing the sound of gunshots within the range area the general public should not panic but go about their lawful activities, as the movement and gunshots are routine military training exercise usually in the Nigerian Army. On our part, we have taken adequate measures to ensure the safety of lives and property during the period.
"On this premise, you are please requested to inform members of the public especially residents of Owode community, farmers and other communities within the range area to keep away throughout the period of the exercise.
"It would be greatly appreciated if this message is also translated into local languages and disseminated to members of the public.
"Please accept the esteemed assurances of the Commander Nigerian Army Signals."
