The Ogun State government said it will begin the distribution of 300,000 10kg bags of rice as federal government palliatives through the 5,400 polling units across the state to ensure equitability and fairness.
Abiodun said that it is part of the efforts of the State Government to cushion the effects of the removal of fuel subsidy on the indigenes of the State.
He said "We are flagging off the distribution of palliatives and the inauguration of the central committee for the distribution of the palliatives. The committee will be chaired by my deputy governor. This is a federal government initiative under the leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu that is being domesticated right here in Ogun state."
"We have decided to use the polling units as a reference of distribution not wards because using wards will not be equitable and fair.
The Governor during the flag-off ceremony held on Friday at Oke Mosan, Abeokuta, Ogun State commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the initiative.
Abiodun applauded the efforts of the President for the steps taken to check hunger amongst the citizenry.
He added "Our desire is to distribute about 300, 000 bags of 10kg bags of rice to about 5,400 polling units. We have decided to use polling units as a reference of distribution because we realize that using wards will not be equitable."
The Governor assured that the palliatives will get to intended beneficiaries, irrespective of political parties.
Abiodun also promised that within one week, the people of the State would have felt the impact of distribution of the palliatives.
He thanked the residents of the State for their patience and pleaded with them to continue to be patient
