SWAN sets for 3rd Security football tournament in Ogun

11 security agencies in Ogun state will participate in the much anticipated third edition of SWAN Security and Safety Cup slated to kickoff on Wednesday 4th October 2023.

According to the draw made on Friday at the SWAN secretariat, the opening match will be between the Nigeria Custom Service and Nigeria Immigration Service at 10am at the main bowl of the MKO station in Abeokuta.

The SWAN/Security and Safety cup is a football competition organized for security agencies in Ogun state by the state chapter of Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN).

Chairman of the association, Michael-Azeez Ogunsiji explained that the competition is a means to appreciating the efforts of all security agencies in the state.

He added that the benefits of exercise to the body cannot be overemphasized, while encouraging all officers to be one ground alongside their supporters to make the match a fun filled and enjoyable one.

“ We are organizing this competition as a means to appreciating the efforts of all security agencies in the state.

“ We know they all have busy schedule and no time for exercise so this is to hep them exercise their bodies and also create an opportunity for interwoven relationships between each agencies.

“ The Competition will kickoff officially on Wednesday 4th October 2023. and the finials tentatively is 27 October 2023 with the governor Dapo Abiodun as the chief host.

“ We are giving individuals award and cash prices to the best players, best goal keeper, most fair played team and the best coach to appreciate and commend the effort of bringing the players together.

Ogunsiji also urged all participants to avoid the use of machineries and play a violent free match.

“Do not take the competition as a do or die affair, there would be a winner and losser so let us avoid the use of machinery and cheating in this competition.

In his remarks, Musibau Bamgboye, Match commissioner and assessor promised to give the competition the best referee and called for full support from players and technical crew.

“We promise to give you the best referee, the team are expected to be here one hour before the starting time . We solicit the support of both the players and technical crew to please behave themselves. And there are some little changes on the law of the game so i appeal for  you full cooperation” he noted

The registered security agencies for the competition are the Nigeria Customs Service, Nigeria Police, Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Agency,NSCDC, So Safe Corp, Amotekun, Forestry Guard, Nigeria Immigration Service, Nigeria Correction Service, DSS and Nigeria Fire Service.
