Adeleye disclosed this at the International Day of the Girl organized by the Ajose Foundation, an initiative of the First Lady of the State, Mrs. Bamidele Abiodun, with the theme: "Invest in Girls' Rights: Our Leadership and Well-being", held at the June 12 Cultural Centre, Abeokuta.
She explained that the action would give due adequate recognitions to the untapped potentials of the female folk that were capable of shaping national rebirth and social development in the State and Nation at large.
Adeleye, who sought the need for special platforms and institutional opportunities to propel the future of the girl child, stressed that it was high time collaborative efforts were being strengthened with government at all levels to address the Sexual and Gender-Based Violence (SGBV), a global scourge that has threatened the safety and well-being of girls and women worldwide.
She noted that the State Government through the State Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development has collaborated with the United Nations Population Fund to encourage young female individuals to propose solutions for the prevention of SGBV in schools and workplaces, adding that while digital revolution has brought significant improvements in social and economic growth, it has also highlighted a persistent gender digital divide, especially in low and middle-income countries.
Decrying that Women and girls remain underrepresented in the technological revolution, the Commissioner said the development of safe technology to combat GBV needed the involvements of women and girls in leadership and collaboration.
According to her, "technological solutions must prioritize the safety and privacy of survivors. Today, we are gathered here to listen to our young girls, our future builders, as they present their innovations to combat discrimination against girls, promote their social wellbeing, and prevent SGBV in schools and society. We will invest in the innovations of three remarkable young girls, believing that investing in them means investing in our future and global recognition"
Earlier in her remarks, the State Deputy Governor, Engr Noimot Salako-Oyedele who shared her growing story as a female in a male- dominated career, said female folks possed capacity to actualize their dream inspite all life barriers.
She challenged the participants not to relent on their pursuit towards excellence, saying the State Government would continue to provide platforms for the discovery and recognition of female talents.
The Deputy Governor assured that the State government would continue to invest in the girl child initiative, ensuring that they are provided with the tools, support, and opportunities necessary to thrive in every aspect of their lives.
Also in her address, the wife of the State Governor, Mrs. Bamidele Abiodun noted that the theme of the celebration aligns with the core mission at Ajose Foundation.
She added that, "as we continue our collective efforts to invest in girls' rights, leadership, and well-being, let us remember that our actions today will pave the way for a more equitable and just society tomorrow. Together, let us champion the cause of our girls, ensuring that they have the support and resources they need to flourish and lead with confidence and determination"
