In a resounding call for unity and cooperation, Alhaji Mogaji Olaniyan Ibrahim, the National Chairman of the Police Community Relation Committee (PCRC), expressed his unwavering commitment to combat crime and criminality in Nigeria.
He disclosed this on Thursday at the Ogun Medal Links Media African Award 2023 held at Valley View, Isale Igbeyin, Abeokuta, Ogun State.
Olaniyan conveyed his gratitude to Almighty Allah for the encouragement to further bolster efforts in assisting the Nigerian Police and other security agencies to reduce crime.
The Chairman emphasized the PCRC's vital role in supporting the Nigerian Police.
He stressed the significance of providing information and unwavering support to law enforcement.
"Our major duty of PCRC is to work with the Nigerian Police. They need information, and they need our support, and we are not going to relent in our efforts," he declared.
Recognizing the critical link between drug abuse and criminal activities, the Chairman issued a directive to all PCRC state chapters across Nigeria and urged them to collaborate with the Ministry of Education to implement an initiative named "Catch Them Young."
"This program aims to engage children, enlighten them about the perils of drug abuse, and dissuade them from engaging in such destructive behaviour."
In his words, "Drug is the mother of all crime, and even at our level in PCRC, we want to work with parents and teachers to ensure we enlighten our children and persuade them not to engage in any drug abuse."
