Ogun State command of the NSCDC stated this on Wednesday at the 2023 annual retreat for all arms bearing department and units held at the command's headquarter, Owu Dekudu village , Kobape road , Abeokuta, Ogun State.
The Ogun State Commandant of the NSCDC, Idowu Ojelabi emphasized that the critical national assets are owned by the people, necessitating collective efforts to ensure their protection.
Ojelabi urged citizens to play an active role by reporting any suspicious activities, emphasizing the importance of immediate action to safeguard infrastructure in the state and the nation at large.
He highlighted the Command's diverse mandates, including the peace and conflict resolution department, responsible for alternative dispute resolution, and the agro rangers unit, acting as intermediaries between farmers and herders.
During the retreat, Ojelabi expressed confidence that participants would gain a heightened understanding of their role in protecting society rather than suppressing it.
"At the end of the programme today, they will be better informed that they're part of the society to protect and not to suppress them," he asserted.
Ojelabi emphasized the need to strategize efforts in handling various situations, prompting the mobilization of all armed-bearing officers in Ogun State for the programme.
The Deputy Governor assured the Corps of the state government commitment in providing support for the command.
“ I assure you of the full support and commitment of Ogun state in providing the necessary resources and logistics to support your Corps. We recognize the critical role played in the overall development of our society and we will continue to prioritize this relationship.”.
