Speaking at Itebu Manuwa, during the test-running of the power lines by the Ministry before the private firm takes possession, Commissioner for Rural Development, Mrs. Olufemi Ilori-Oduntan, represented by the Director Rural Electrification, Engr. Ismail Balogun, said the partnership was necessary, as electricity plays a pivotal role in driving the economy, hence the need to woo more private organisations to invest in the state towards ensuring economic prosperity for all.
The Commissioner, who said the firm, Alteny Energy, would serve the community and its environs, thereby opening the community to various economic potential, assured that government would not rest on its oars in ensuring that rural communities get light up by the end of his administration, calling on well-meaning Nigerians to invest in the state for an enhanced business-friendly policy.
"Government wants its presence felt in the remotest part of the state; even those that were far from the national grid were provided with solar-powered energy”, she said.
Speaking, the Managing Director, Alterny Energy, Tomiwa Ajala, said the company selected the state as a destination of choice due to its peaceful ambience and ease of doing business policy, promising to better the lot of the community through Corporate Social Responsibility.
Appreciating the state government and the Firm, the Village Head, Oba Frederick Manuwa, said the community which had been in existence for years without electricity had long relied on alternative power supply, pledging necessary support to ensure smooth running operations.
