Army Holds 2023 West African Social Activities in Ogun

In a vibrant display of Nigerian culture and unity, the 35 Artillery Brigade Alamala Abeokuta Ogun State successfully hosted the 2023 West African Social Activities (WASA) at the command on Saturday.

In his address, the Brigade Commander General MT Aminu highlighted the significance of the annual event, emphasizing its role in celebrating diversity, fostering unity, and providing a social platform for officers, soldiers, their families, and friends to interact and bond after a year of rigorous activities.

The commander added that the delay in conducting the WASA was attributed to the brigade's extensive engagement in various operational activities aimed at maintaining law and order throughout the preceding year.
 Brigadier General Aminu commended the collaborative efforts of the brigade with Nigerian colleagues and other security agencies, which significantly contributed to enhancing the security and confidence of the people of the state.

Expressing gratitude for the support from the people of Ogun State, Commander Aminu  urged continued cooperation, particularly in sharing information relevant to security matters.

 He emphasized the importance of collective efforts between security agencies and citizens in ensuring a safer environment for all.
Addressing the officers and soldiers, Brigadier General Aminu urged them to prioritize training, professionalism, and welfare while aligning with the vision of the Chief of Army Staff. 

He commended their hard work, commitment, and dedication to duty, calling for continued efforts to maintain the standard in the year 2024.

"I want to use this opportunity to urge all my commanders to take stock of their achievement last year and plan for the year ahead . You must continue to give training priority in our various unit .

"In discharging your duties, you must continue to be professional and act in line with the vision of the Chief of Army Staff , you must also  continue to strengthen our operation and be proactive while prioritizing the welfare of our personnel .
" I will like to commend all the officers and soldiers of the brigade for the success the brigade recorded last year . Our achievement was as a result of their hardwork, commitment and dedication to duty , I urge you all to do more in the year 2024 to maintain the standard."

Meanwhile the special guest of honour the Governor of Ogun State, Prince Dapo Abiodun, represented by the Deputy Governor Engineer Noimot Salako Oyedele, commended the brigade's efforts in addressing security challenges in the state.
 He pledged continued support and urged personnel to remain focused and committed to their duties.

The event also saw the recognition of award winners for their exemplary performance in 2023, as well as engaging displays from dance troupes, tug-of-war teams, and various bands, adding to the festive atmosphere of the occasion.

The year 2023 WASA was climaxed with Cultural Troupe display, Thug of War and presentation of awards to the deserving personnel of the Brigade among others. The event was graced by Maj Gen OT Akinjobi (rtd) Former Chief of Operations (Army), Capt (NN) RA Raji (rtd) Former Military Administrator Bauchi State, His Majesty Oba Michael Gbadebo Aremu, the Alake and Paramount Ruler of EgbaLand, other senior officers both serving and retired, Royal Fathers within Ogun State, Chairperson 35 AB NAOWA, Heads of Security agencies amongst other dignitaries.
