Paul Onuachu Shows What Southampton May Miss if He Departs for Trabzonspor-OXYGIST

Super Eagles striker Paul Onuachu demonstrated his striking prowess during Southampton’s pre-season training on Monday, providing a glimpse of what the team might miss if he moves to Trabzonspor.

Onuachu's future with Southampton has been uncertain this summer. The Nigerian forward joined the club from Genk last January after two exceptional seasons. However, his arrival coincided with a turbulent period for Southampton, who were battling relegation from the Premier League and undergoing a coaching change, significantly limiting his playing time.

Southampton eventually faced relegation two seasons ago, prompting Onuachu to seek consistent game time elsewhere. He moved to Turkish Super Lig side Trabzonspor on a season-long loan last summer. During his time in Turkey, the 30-year-old striker excelled, scoring 17 goals and providing four assists in 25 appearances. His stellar performance has led Trabzonspor to consider a permanent move for him, but the deal has stalled over the transfer fee. Southampton are demanding up to €15 million for Onuachu, a price Trabzonspor is hesitant to meet.

Despite the ongoing uncertainty, Onuachu has returned to Southampton for pre-season training. The club recently shared a video showcasing his impressive performance alongside compatriot Joe Aribo, where Onuachu demonstrated his finishing skills by scoring a goal.

Southampton have several pre-season matches lined up against Bordeaux, Montpellier, Oxford United, Millwall, Lazio, and Getafe. Onuachu hopes to resolve his future soon and aims to make a strong impression on manager Russell Martin during these games. A solid pre-season performance could see him staying with the Saints this summer.
