A Nigerian man who initially accused his wife of tearing his international passport at the Lagos International Airport has now clarified that the incident was staged. He is appealing to immigration officers following his wife's arrest, asserting that she never actually damaged his passport.
Over the weekend, a video went viral showing a heated argument between the couple at the airport. In the footage, the woman openly admitted to tearing her husband's passport, leading to widespread media coverage and public concern.
However, the man is now accusing bloggers of escalating the situation, claiming that their reports have caused unnecessary trouble. He emphasized that the passport was never torn and that the entire episode was merely a skit.
The situation further escalated when the wife later released her own video, explaining that she had deliberately torn the passport in Nigeria to prevent her husband from traveling back. This led to further confusion and media frenzy.
In response, the husband released an extended video of the airport altercation, asserting that he anticipated his wife’s actions and had a friend record the incident. He described his wife as the instigator of the scene.
Appealing to the public and media, he stated: "I'm here with my kids to ask for understanding from Nigerians and the entire world. My wife did not tear my passport. Please, as bloggers, ensure you verify your stories before publishing. My passport is completely intact."
