Joao Felix is set to wear the No. 14 jersey as he embarks on his second chapter at Chelsea. The club made the announcement on Wednesday, confirming the Portuguese forward's permanent transfer from Atletico Madrid for a fee of £42.6 million.
Felix, 24, previously spent the latter half of the 2022/23 season on loan at Chelsea before heading to Barcelona for a year. Now, he's back at Stamford Bridge on a seven-year contract, marking Chelsea’s tenth summer signing and pushing their total transfer spending beyond the £200 million mark.
Expressing his enthusiasm, Felix shared, “I’m thrilled to be back at Chelsea and eager to get started. It’s great to see some familiar faces from my last spell here, which feels really welcoming.”
Felix’s return comes on the heels of Conor Gallagher’s transfer to Atletico Madrid, wrapping up a busy transfer window for both clubs. During his previous stint with the Blues, Felix netted four goals in 20 appearances, despite a rocky start that included a red card on his debut.
