Mohbad’s Family Urges Silence Over Anniversary Event Plans

Mohbad’s Family Urges Silence Over Anniversary Event Plans-OXYGIST

The family of late Afrobeats sensation Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba, better known as Mohbad, has requested that plans to commemorate the first anniversary of his passing be put on hold. They expressed a strong desire to mourn privately without the added emotional strain of public events.

In a statement released by the family’s legal representative, Monisola Odumosu, the Aloba family emphasized that their son has yet to be buried, and they would prefer the public to focus on prayers rather than organizing elaborate commemorations.

“It has come to our attention that some organizations are planning to celebrate the first anniversary of our beloved son and singer, Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba (Mohbad). We kindly ask these groups to suspend their plans,” the statement read.

The family further appealed to individuals and organizations to seek their consent before proceeding with any such events. They stressed that they do not wish for their son's legacy to be used for commercial gain during this sensitive period.

“As we approach the anniversary of his passing, we encourage everyone to join us in prayer rather than holding events that could impact our emotions,” the statement continued. “We ask that any planned commemorations be approved by the family to ensure they align with our wishes.”

Mohbad, who was once signed to Marlian Music under Naira Marley, passed away on September 12, 2023, at the age of 27. The circumstances of his death have sparked widespread controversy on social media, making this request for privacy even more poignant.

The family urges the public to respect their wishes and join them in honoring Mohbad’s memory through quiet reflection and prayer.
