The chairman of the Youth Assembly Amb. Habeeb Whyte disclosed this during a live interview on Friday at Family F.M Abeokuta , Ogun State capital.
Whyte highlighted the need for balance between customs enforcement and traders' rights in Nigerian markets.
The discussion followed incidents of customs officials' intrusions in markets, resulting in disruptions, harassment, and violence.
While acknowledging the importance of enforcing regulations, Amb. Whyte emphasized the need for due process and responsible trade practices.
He condemned the shooting of customs officials and the lack of due process during raids, urging market leaders and traders to obtain goods through legitimate channels and comply with regulations.
The Youth Assembly Chairman commended Governor Abiodun for his efforts to address the issues and find solutions, including a recent meeting with the Comptroller of Customs.

"We condemn the shooting of customs officials in markets, as violence only exacerbates the situation. Similarly, we deplore the lack of due process exhibited by customs officials during raids, which often neglect to involve relevant authorities like the police force and market leaders.
"To market women and men, we urge you to obtain goods through legitimate channels, ensuring compliance with regulations and avoiding practices that harm Nigeria's economy. By doing so, you contribute to a stable and prosperous market environment.
"We commend Governor Prince Dapo Abiodun MFR of Ogun State for his tireless efforts to bring peace and stability to the state. His recent meeting with the Comptroller of Customs demonstrates his commitment to addressing the issues and finding solutions. As a citizen-loving leader, he recognizes the importance of balance between enforcement and traders' rights.
