Spyro Reflects on Growing Up as a Pastor's Child-OXYGIST

Popular Nigerian singer Spyro recently shared insights into his childhood as the son of a pastor during an interview on the Just Chude podcast. He described his upbringing as challenging, marked by mandatory church attendance and Bible study sessions that often felt forced.

Spyro recounted how morning devotions were held at inconvenient times, leading him to develop feelings of resentment towards God. However, his perspective began to shift when he entered university, viewing it as an opportunity to escape from his rigid daily routine.

Despite these challenges, Spyro acknowledged the positive aspects of his upbringing. He credited his parents' teachings and the instilled fear of God for shaping his values and behavior. This fear of God, he noted, continues to influence his decisions and actions even in his adult life.

"I might have resented the strict routines back then," Spyro said, "but I now see how they shaped me. The fear of God has guided my choices, like not smoking or drinking, which I believe has been beneficial to me."
