Nigerian music stars Tems and Rema have made their mark on the 2024 summer playlist curated by former U.S. President Barack Obama.
Each year, Obama shares a selection of his favorite tracks spanning various genres, and this year’s list continues the tradition. On Monday, he took to X (formerly known as Twitter) to unveil a playlist featuring 44 songs that have been on his rotation.
Representing Nigeria, Tems’ “Love Me Jeje” and Rema’s “Yayo” have earned their places on this coveted list. Other notable tracks include “Them Belly Full” by Bob Marley ft. The Wailers, “Texas Hold ‘Em” by Beyoncé, “You’ve Really Got A Hold On Me” by The Miracles, and “Wanna Be” by Megan Thee Stallion ft. GloRilla.
Obama expressed his hope that listeners would discover something fresh and enjoyable from his selection.
With summer winding down, I wanted to share some songs that I’ve been listening to lately – and it wouldn’t be my playlist if it didn’t include an eclectic mix. I hope you find something new to listen to! pic.twitter.com/aL400Ctpde
