LG Elections:Ogun Youth Assembly Commends OGSIEC Over Age Limit reduction

The Ogun State Youth Assembly has commended the Ogun State Independent Electoral Commission (OGSIEC) for reducing the minimum age qualification for candidates in the forthcoming Local Government elections from 30 to 25 years.

Chairman of the Ogun Youth Assembly, Amb. Habeeb Whyte, made the commendation while speaking to newsmen in Abeokuta, the state capital, on Friday.

According to Whyte, the amendment will encourage young people to participate in the electoral process and contest in the forthcoming LG elections.

"This is a welcome development and a step in the right direction," Whyte said.

"By reducing the age limit, OGSIEC has opened up opportunities for young people to take part in the democratic process and contribute to the development of their communities."

Whyte urged young people in the state to take advantage of the new age limit and contest in the forthcoming elections.

"We encourage all eligible young people to participate in the electoral process and make their voices heard," he said.
