President Bola Tinubu and the Southern Governors’ Forum (SGF) have expressed their condolences to Akwa Ibom State Governor, Umo Eno, following the death of his wife, Patience Eno.
Mrs. Patience Eno passed away on Thursday at an undisclosed hospital, surrounded by her family. Her passing has left many in grief, as she was known for her humility, resilience, and dedication to both family and community.
In a statement released on Friday by Tinubu's special adviser on information and strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the President offered his heartfelt sympathies to the grieving family, the state government, and the people of Akwa Ibom. Tinubu acknowledged her vital role in supporting Governor Eno’s administration, emphasizing the impact she made through her life and work.
“The President joins them in mourning the painful loss of the state’s First Lady, who stood by Governor Eno’s side and made significant contributions to Akwa Ibom. As a gospel minister and devoted wife, she embodied humility and commitment,” the statement read.
Tinubu praised her initiative, 'Golden Initiative for All,' which demonstrated her passion for uplifting the people of Akwa Ibom, especially women, children, and the vulnerable. He expressed confidence that her legacy of service will continue to inspire future generations.
Similarly, the Southern Governors’ Forum, led by its chairman, Governor Dapo Abiodun, extended their condolences, describing Mrs. Eno as a remarkable woman who was a strong pillar of support in both her husband’s private and public life.
“We deeply sympathize with Governor Umo Eno over the tragic loss of his beloved wife. Pastor Patience Eno was more than just a partner; she was a source of strength and inspiration to many in Akwa Ibom and across Nigeria,” the statement from the SGF said.
The governors encouraged Governor Eno to take comfort in the cherished memories shared with his late wife and the unwavering support from family, friends, and the people of Akwa Ibom.
