Music mogul Sean 'Diddy' Combs has made a third bid to be released from jail, with his legal team arguing that he poses "no threat to the community" amid serious charges of racketeering and s*x trafficking.
Diddy, who has been behind bars since last month, has denied all accusations, maintaining that any s*xual encounters were consensual. His attorneys have filed new court documents seeking bail, emphasizing that their client is innocent and should not be considered a flight risk.
The legal team is pushing back against previous rulings that denied Diddy's bail, with one New York federal judge citing concerns over Diddy allegedly attempting to contact witnesses. In their appeal, Diddy's defense claimed that any witness contact was approved by the witness's attorney. They also noted that some witnesses had actually reached out to Diddy, contradicting claims that he initiated the communication.
While the appeal refers to an unnamed victim, many speculate that the case involves Cassie, given references to a leaked video after her settlement. Diddy’s team argues that the case has been "sensationalized" by the media and that he has shown a willingness to cooperate by surrendering his passport, selling his private jet, and offering his $48 million home as collateral for bail.
Diddy has also agreed to weekly drug tests and promised not to contact any additional witnesses.
Prosecutors are expected to respond to the appeal soon, though the case is not anticipated to be heard in court this week. Diddy, 54, remains in custody at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn, New York, following his indictment on charges of s*x trafficking, racketeering, and transportation for prostitution.
