The Edo State Police Command has apprehended four suspects in connection with the theft of a diamond earring, headphones, and other valuables valued in the millions. Commissioner of Police, CP Umoru Peter Ozigi, presented the suspects, identified as Osakpolor Edobor (20), Oshoike Malik (23), Aliu Rabak (27), and Alor Ojo (24), during a press briefing in Benin City on October 30, 2024.
The arrests followed a report from Daramola Gabriel, who alleged that armed robbers broke into his home near One World Hotel in South-Ibie on October 23, 2024, around 4 a.m., taking away valuable items.
According to the CP, “On October 26, while at a park, Gabriel spotted a young man wearing his stolen diamond earring and headphones. He notified the police, who promptly arrested the suspect, Osakpolor Edobor, who admitted to purchasing the items from a person at Darisco Hotel in South-Ibie.”
Subsequent investigations led to the arrests of Malik, Rabak, and Ojo, and the recovery of a locally made gun along with some stolen property. The CP confirmed, "The suspects will face charges once the investigation is concluded."
