Abdelaziz Barrada, former Marseille and Morocco midfielder, has tragically passed away at the age of 35 after reportedly suffering a sudden heart attack. Barrada, who retired from professional football in 2021, had been residing in France when the unexpected incident occurred.
Marseille paid heartfelt tribute to Barrada on their social media, writing, "Rest in peace, Abdelaziz. Olympique de Marseille is saddened to learn of the passing of its former player and Moroccan international, Abdelaziz Barrada." The club added, "He joined us in the summer of 2014 and proudly wore OM's colors for two seasons. Our sincerest condolences to his family and loved ones."
Getafe, where Barrada spent two memorable seasons, also mourned the loss: "The Getafe CF family is shocked by the death of our former player Abdel Barrada. He played 66 matches, scoring 4 goals during the 2011/12 and 2012/13 seasons. Our thoughts and support are with his family and friends during this difficult time. RIP."
