Nigerian media personality Toke Makinwa has set the record straight regarding recent rumors that she secretly got married during her 40th birthday Thanksgiving ceremony.
Speculation began circulating after photos from the Thanksgiving service went viral, with many fans and reports suggesting that the popular actress had tied the knot in a private ceremony. However, Toke took to Twitter (now X) to clarify the situation and express gratitude for the well-wishes from her friends and followers.
Addressing the rumors, Toke wrote, "I did not get married yesterday. I deeply appreciate all your love and prayers. I see how much you all desire for me to settle down, and I trust that God, who is the author of time, will make it happen at the right moment. Yesterday was solely to honor God."
She added with a touch of humor that the marriage rumors had caused quite a stir, leading her parents to receive numerous calls from their friends. "Una don make my parents receive plenty calls, but I know it’s all love. Their friends have been calling non-stop, but I’m very much still singuuuuuuuuuu."
I owe you all my friends and family too much to have a secret wedding, you all have been through everything with me so know this from me, it was a thanksgiving day and nothing more. Xx
