Liverpool's Mohamed Salah has made history by becoming the all-time leading African goal scorer in the UEFA Champions League, now with 45 goals to his name.
The 32-year-old Egyptian forward secured this milestone in style, scoring a crucial goal in the 75th minute during Liverpool's victory over Bologna on Wednesday, September 2. His goal not only helped the Reds clinch an important group-stage win, but also solidified Salah's place in football history.
By netting his 45th Champions League goal, Salah has surpassed Ivory Coast icon Didier Drogba, who previously held the record with 44 goals. Cameroonian legend Samuel Eto’o follows in third place with 35 goals.
In addition to this achievement, Salah shattered other significant records. According to Squawka, he became the first Liverpool player to score in five consecutive Champions League matches at Anfield. He also became the first player to both score and assist in nine Champions League games for an English club.
