President Tinubu Approves Appointment of New Permanent Secretaries-OXYGIST

President Bola Tinubu has approved the appointment process for new Permanent Secretaries to fill vacancies across eight states in Nigeria, as revealed in an official memo dated October 7, 2024. The Head of the Civil Service of the Federation (OHCSF), Didi Walson-Jack, disclosed that this process will address open positions in Abia, Bayelsa, Ebonyi, Enugu, Gombe, Kaduna, Kebbi, and Rivers states.


The memo highlighted that only eligible civil servants from these states can apply, adhering to the Federal Character principle. It also outlined specific criteria for the applicants, including being substantive Directors on Salary Grade Level 17 as of January 1, 2022, and having at least one year of service remaining by November 18, 2024, when the process concludes.


Additionally, applicants must be free of any disciplinary actions. Walson-Jack emphasized that any civil servant currently under investigation is ineligible to participate. Ministers, directors, and senior officials were also instructed to confirm that any applicant is not facing disciplinary procedures.
