Tragic Building Collapse in Ibadan Claims 10 Lives, 7 Rescued

In a tragic incident, a building collapse in the Jegede Olorunsogo area of Ona Ara, Ibadan, has resulted in the death of at least 10 people, while seven others were rescued from the rubble. The collapse occurred in the early hours of Thursday, October 31.

Oyo State Fire Services responded promptly after receiving multiple distress calls from concerned neighbors around 2 a.m. The agency’s General Manager, Rev. Akinyemi Akinyinka, confirmed the incident, sharing that recovery and rescue efforts were immediately underway.

“We received an emergency call at about 2 a.m. regarding a building collapse at Jegede Olunloyo, Ibadan,” Akinyinka stated. “So far, 10 individuals have been recovered from the debris, and seven others have been pulled out alive. Rescue operations are ongoing as we work to ensure the safety of any remaining individuals.”

Emergency services continue their efforts at the site.
