Lagos State Police have apprehended two teenage cultists who were allegedly on a mission to retaliate for the death of a fellow gang member. The swift action of the police foiled their plans, leading to their arrest in the Agege area of Lagos.
The suspects, Alimi Abdurasak and Eniola Shamsideen, both 18, were arrested by operatives from the Elere Police Station during a routine patrol at around 1:50 am on October 6, 2024, along Agbotikuyo Street, Agege. The two attempted to flee upon spotting the anti-crime patrol unit but were quickly surrounded and apprehended by the officers who had become suspicious of their presence.
Lagos State Police Command spokesperson, Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed the arrest and revealed that the suspects are residents of Oniwaya, a neighborhood notorious for cult activities in Agege.
During a search of the suspects’ belongings, police found two axes and two bottles inside a black bag they were carrying, further evidence of their intent to carry out violent acts. "Investigations are ongoing, and both suspects will be charged to court soon," Hundeyin added.
