Former Arsenal defender William Gallas has called on Mikel Arteta’s squad to make a determined bid for Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen, who currently plays for Galatasaray on loan from Napoli. Gallas's comments align with those of ex-Manchester United player Patrice Evra, who recently expressed shock over Osimhen’s temporary move to Turkey, saying Arsenal missed a prime opportunity to bolster their attack.
Despite Arsenal and Chelsea’s interest in the 25-year-old forward last summer, the Italian club demanded a high fee of around €130 million, which both clubs deemed excessive. With Arsenal facing challenges in capitalizing on goal-scoring opportunities, particularly as Kai Havertz and Gabriel Jesus struggle to find the net consistently, Osimhen could be the game-changer they need. Known for his powerful strikes and consistent goal-scoring, Osimhen has already netted six goals and provided four assists in six league appearances for Galatasaray.
Gallas expressed his thoughts in a recent interview with Goal, saying, “If I could bring one player to Arsenal in January, it would be a top-tier striker like Osimhen. I’m still puzzled as to why he’s at Galatasaray. He’s the type of player Arsenal needs—someone who might not score 20 goals but would keep defenders on edge and create scoring chances for his teammates.”
