Popular social commentator Martins Vincent Otse, widely known as VeryDarkMan (VDM), made a striking appearance at the Lagos High Court this morning, November 14, dressed in traditional Edo attire. VDM was present for the hearing of a defamation lawsuit filed against him by rapper Falz and his father, respected human rights lawyer Femi Falana, SAN.
The Falanas took legal action after VDM declined to retract a video where he made remarks they found defamatory, relating to an alleged audio clip of Bobrisky conversing with an unknown individual. In the clip, the voice alleged to be Bobrisky claimed that Falz had reached out while he was in prison, suggesting that Falz’s father, Femi Falana, could assist in securing a presidential pardon. The individual also alleged to have paid N10 million to a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) for this help.
In his analysis of the audio, VDM expressed surprise over any purported connection between the Falanas and Bobrisky, raising a controversial question, "Abi Falz dey do?" This comment sparked a debate, as many perceived it as a suggestion about Falz’s sexuality.
The case has captured public attention, with supporters of both sides keenly watching the legal proceedings unfold.
