Femi Adebayo’s Jagun Jagun took center stage at the 2024 Best of Nollywood (BON) Awards, claiming six awards and cementing its status as a standout production in Nollywood. Held on Sunday, November 24, at the iconic Sugar Factory Film Studios in Ilorin, Kwara State, the 16th edition of the BON Awards celebrated excellence in Nigerian cinema.
Hosted by Nollywood star Toyin Abraham Ajeyemi, the glamorous event saw Jagun Jagun win in key categories, including Best Actor for Femi Adebayo, Best Costume, Best Indigenous Film, Best Production Design, and Best Special Effects. These victories underscore the film’s remarkable impact on the industry since its Netflix debut in August 2023.
Momiwa also had a notable night, securing awards for Best Editing and Best Screenplay. Meanwhile, Unknown Soja’s Wunmi Dada won Best Actress, and Mercy Aigbe of Ada Omo Daddy took home Best Supporting Actress. Rising talents were not left out, with Nifemi Lawal (Jagun Jagun) winning Best Child Actor and Ozechi Franklin Izuchuchukwu named Most Promising Actor.
Jagun Jagun is a captivating Yoruba epic that tells the story of a revered warlord whose reign is challenged by an ambitious young warrior. The film’s rich storytelling, stunning visuals, and cultural authenticity earned it 12 nominations, making it a strong favorite at the awards.
