Lagbaja Family Mourns: "He Never Had the Chance to Enjoy Life Outside the Military"-OXYGIST

Mr. Demola Lagbaja, head of the Lagbaja family in Ilobu Kingdom, Osun State, shared a heartfelt reflection on the passing of Lt. Gen. Taoheed Lagbaja, the late Chief of Army Staff. Speaking to visitors at the family home in Ibadan, Mr. Lagbaja expressed that their late son dedicated his entire life to the military, leaving little opportunity to experience life beyond his service.

“Our hope was that he would retire and enjoy the fruits of his labor,” Mr. Lagbaja said during a condolence visit from the St. Charles Grammar School Old Boys Association. Reflecting on the unexpected loss, he added, “What happened has happened. We have to submit to the will of God, but we are immensely proud of our son. May he rest in peace.”

The visit was led by Mr. Sola Omopo, Chairman of the Board of Trustees for St. Charles Grammar School. Omopo presented a condolence letter on behalf of the association and spoke highly of the late Lt. Gen. Lagbaja’s contributions to the school. He revealed that Lagbaja had funded an impressive N550 million project for the school, now near completion. "He remained a proud and supportive member until his untimely passing,” Omopo said, adding that the news of Lagbaja’s death had resonated with both local and international alumni.

Lt. Gen. Taoheed Lagbaja passed away on November 5 at the age of 56, leaving a legacy of honor and commitment that his family and community will remember for generations.
