During a house-to-house campaign on Friday in Abeokuta, the Party Chairman Alhaja Faidat Sarumi Akintunde, visited Odo Eran, Lafenwa, where she passionately endorsed Sodipo and urged the butchers' association to back him at the polls.
Alhaja Faidat highlighted Sodipo's commitment to Abeokuta North, noting his numerous contributions to the community even without holding a public office.
“If you go to the Imala community, you will see that someone who has never been a council chairman rehabilitated their health centre and provided boreholes with his own money.
"He even empowered 1,600 people in our local government on his birthday,” she stated, underscoring Sodipo’s dedication and goodwill.
The butchers' association warmly received the message, and Alhaji Akano Adetona, the association’s vice chairman in Nigeria, expressed confidence in Sodipo’s candidacy.
Popularly known as Istijaba, Adetona commended the party chairman's endorsement and pledged the butchers' support.
“We trust the party chairman. She has always delivered, and we believe in her recommendation,” he remarked.
In his address to the butchers, the Chairmanship candidate Lanre Oyegbola emphasized the importance of continuity in APC leadership, highlighting the benefits of alignment with the APC-led administration at both federal and state levels.
“With an APC president and governor, having an APC chairmanship in Abeokuta North will foster a seamless relationship, which will allow us to make impactful changes together,” he said, stressing the value of a unified government for local development.
Sodipo also acknowledged the vital role of the council's 16 councillors in his prospective administration, assuring the butchers of a collaborative governance approach.
“The council chairman cannot do it alone. I have 16 councillors who will work with me to ensure our community’s growth and prosperity,” he added, signaling a commitment to inclusive leadership.
The APC campaign then moved to the Lafenwa branch of the Planks Sellers Association, where Sodipo met with members and addressed their concerns.
He pointed out the recent federal disbursement of N45 billion to primary healthcare centres nationwide adding that the health centres are within the local government.
The chairman of the plank sellers’ association, Mr. Semiu Makinde, voiced some of the group’s pressing needs, including the completion of public toilet facilities, the installation of boreholes, and solar lighting for security.
The Party Chairman reassured the plank sellers that their needs would be prioritized, affirming that the APC values community development and listens to its supporters.
“I assure you that your demands will not be ignored. Come out on November 16 and vote for APC to see positive changes,” she urged.
