The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has struck a significant blow against insurgents with a precision airstrike under Operation Hadin Kai, targeting a key terrorist stronghold in Jubillaram, within the Tumbuns area of the Lake Chad Basin.
The operation, conducted on November 23, 2024, dismantled a critical food storage facility and neutralized several insurgents. Air Commodore Olusola Akinboyewa, Director of Public Relations and Information, revealed that the targeted location was a hub for terrorist commanders and fighters, identified through meticulous intelligence efforts.
“This strategic location served as a vital food depot and a sanctuary for terrorists. Its destruction is a significant step in disrupting their logistical operations,” Akinboyewa stated.
The airstrike was launched following intelligence linking the enclave to recent attacks, including the November 16 assault on troops in Kareto. NAF fighter jets carried out a robust interdiction mission, obliterating storage facilities and neutralizing insurgents at the site. Fleeing fighters were eliminated in mop-up operations with precision cannon strikes.
The mission was supported by extensive intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR) missions conducted over several days, which confirmed the presence of camouflaged terrorist structures hidden under dense vegetation.
This decisive strike not only crippled the insurgents’ supply chain but also weakened their operational capacity. "The destruction of their food depot and the neutralization of numerous fighters have significantly reduced their ability to mount future attacks," Akinboyewa added.
Reaffirming the NAF’s commitment to national security, Akinboyewa said, “This mission underscores our determination to defend Nigeria’s sovereignty and people. We will continue executing independent and joint operations until all threats to the nation’s prosperity and well-being are eliminated.”
