This comes after the local government terminated contracts with revenue collectors.
In a statement issued to newsmen on Wednesday by the Head of the Information, Education and Sports Department of the local government Olalekan Olasunkanmi, said some unauthorized individuals, including a motorcycle branch chairman in Elega, have been selling fake permits.
He added that the local government has not printed or authorized the sale of any hackney permits for 2025.
He advised Motorcycle riders and drivers to be cautious of these fake permits, as they are not recognized by the local government.
His words " After the termination of contracts with revenue collectors in Abeokuta North local government, it has come to our notice that some unauthorized individuals are selling hackney permits for 2025 and a motorcycle branch chairman in Elega was fingered to be one of these individuals selling this fake and unauthorized hackney permit.
"This is to inform the motorcycle riders and other drivers that these individuals selling this fake and unauthorized hackney permits are not agents or contractors of the local government.
"The local government authority has not printed and is not selling any hackney permit for 2025.
"The local government has clearly stated that all revenue collectors be put on hold and as such no individual or group of people are allowed to sell any ticket including hackney permits.
"Our revenue monitoring team are on the lookout for this illegal activities and we will take full legal steps to prosecute any illegalities in our revenue collection."
