FG Declares Three-Day Public Holiday for Christmas and New Year Festivities-OXYGIST

The Federal Government has announced December 25 and 26, 2024, as public holidays to celebrate Christmas and Boxing Day, and January 1, 2025, for New Year festivities.

The declaration was made through a statement signed by Magdalene Ajani on behalf of the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo.

In the statement, the minister extended heartfelt greetings to Nigerians, encouraging them to embrace the season’s spirit of love, peace, and unity. “The Christmas season is a time for spiritual reflection and national renewal. As we celebrate the birth of Jesus, the Prince of Peace, let us show kindness and goodwill to one another, regardless of our differences,” Tunji-Ojo urged.

He emphasized the importance of using the holidays to strengthen family and community bonds, noting that unity within these circles contributes significantly to the nation’s development.

As Nigerians gear up for the festivities, the government also called on citizens to reflect on their values, reconcile differences, and reaffirm their commitment to fostering a united and prosperous nation.
